Sat 3   ED KUEPPER + Special Guests
To describe Ed Kuepper's career in terms of his unique artistic vision is to understate the impact of his significant influence on contemporary music. His career has spanned over three decades, beginning in 1973 when he formed the original version of the proto punk band ‘The Saints’ in Brisbane. From there, Kuepper launched an extensive and prolific solo career which has seen the release of more than 15 albums as well as several soundtracks and music composed for experimental film. Kuepper was awarded and nominated for a string of ARIA awards throughout the 1990’s and was inducted into the Aria Hall of Fame in 2001 a move that was considered long overdue by many observers.

Sat 10   ABBY DOBSON + Emily Maguire
Multi gold-selling artist, Abby Dobson is a highly regarded and popular singer and songwriter in the Australian music industry. With her band ‘Leonardo’s Bride’, she recorded the album ‘Angel Blood’, including the single ‘Even When I’m Sleeping’ achieving gold sales for both album and single, which also won APRA's Song Of The Year 1998. She has collaborated with many Australian artists, such as Paul Mac, and has written for film and television including the highly popular and award winning series Secret Life Of Us for which she wrote 3 songs which received much national airplay. A passionate and edgy pop writer with a powerhouse voice.

Sat 17

ARCHIE ROACH + SHANE HOWARD
Archie Roach is a singer and songwriter of remarkable strengths and insights. A story teller in the tradition of his ancestors, Archie relays and retells intimate real life stories as well as traditional stories of the Dreaming. Having survived a personal history that would have left most artists scarred and defeated, Archie Roach has emerged as an extraordinarily gifted Australian artist with a truly visionary talent. Shane Howard, since the initial successful releases with his band Goanna, has consolidated his reputation as an inspired and inspiring Australian songwriter and performer. Through his music, Shane Howard promotes the essence and spirit of reconciliation.

Sun 18

COLIN HAY & Band
“You Lookin' at Me?" is Colin Hay's first studio album of new material in over five years and is touring internationally to expose it. A tuneful, insightful meditation on life, love, sobriety, maturity and perseverance, the album finds Hay at the absolute peak of his craft. As a writer and vocalist, he has never been more masterful. Few have endured and survived the way Hay has, from an unimaginable pinnacle of success to forging new roads as a working artist and songsmith. Avoiding the pitfalls that have claimed so many of his peers (drugs, depression, delusion); he continues to ply his craft. The rewards, he knows now, are greater than something as fleeting as fame and notoriety as the ‘Men At Work’ frontman. "Are You Lookin’ at Me?" is the next chapter in a story that is still unfolding – on his terms.

Sat 24

The BACKSLIDERS + Special Guests
Guitarist/ vocalist, founding member and key songwriter for the band, Dom Turner specialises in "bottle-neck" slide guitar using resonator, as well as 6 & 12 string guitars. Dom’s influences are many and varied – a blend of delta blues, piedmont blues, rock, dub and sounds of Asia. He is a highly regarded speaker on blues and roots music and has guested on ABC radio programs and presented music workshops at festivals and in universities both nationally and internationally. Rob Hirst is a founding member of Midnight Oil. He was the drummer, songwriter, and backing singer for 25 years. In 2003 he published his first work of prose on Pan McMillan – ‘Willies Bar & Grill’ which is the story of Midnight Oil’s USA & Canadian tour just after September 11. Joining Dom and Rob is one of Australia’s most innovative and dynamic players, award-winning harmonica genius Ian Collard (Collard, Greens & Gravy) blazing his own trail of raw energy into the Backsliders sound.

Wed 3

SHARON SHANNON (Ireland) + Special Guests
The Sharon Shannon Band is a collaboration of Irish virtuoso accordionist Sharon Shannon, Capercaille flute player Michael McGoldrick, Jim Murray (Guitar) and Dezi Donnelly (Fiddle). She's a triple-platinum seller in Ireland and acclaimed worldwide but onstage the ever-smiling accordion and fiddle player from County Clare is as self-effacing and generous a musician as you could wish to meet. Sharon is well-known for pushing the musical envelope. She has collaborated with everyone from Sinead O'Connor to Steve Earle, Jackson Browne, Elvis Costello & The Waterboys. All musicians in Sharon’s band are masters of their individual instruments but combined create a very unusual but serious rhythm section.

Sat 6

STEPHEN CUMMINGS + Fi Clause
After a successful career as lead singer with the Sports in the late seventies, Stephen Cummings carved himself a career as an enigmatic, reticent solo performer. Stephen has released thirteen solo CDs. He writes in a style that's at once personal, earthy, erudite and literary. He's easily one of the best singers this country has ever produced. On top of all this Stephen is a restless soul who keeps himself from getting bored by turning out some truly fine records with scant regard for trends or demographics. He is one of the very few of his peers still turning out records that match his very best.

Fri 12

TYRONE NOONAN & PAUL GREENE & KARL BROADIE
The ‘HEAVY SOUL TOUR’

As co-singer and instrumentalist for multi-platinum selling Australian jazz/rock/pop combo ‘George’, Tyrone Noonan released a #1 debut album (double platinum), won an ARIA award and performed to 1.8 billion people (the Rugby World Cup Opening Ceremony). Paul Greene has released 4 solo albums independently since 2001, and through hard touring and well-honed craft as a singer-songsmith, has made his impact on the Australian music scene with an unpretentious ubiquity. Karl Broadie is a Sydney-based singer-songwriter originally from Edinburgh, Scotland. Since appearing on the scene in 2002 Karl has been gathering a reputation as a very fine craftsman of songs. Critics have praised his unique “sweetly cracked” voice and drawn songwriting comparisons to some of the finest songsmiths including Townes Van Zandt, Tom Waits and Neil Young.

Fri 26

BOBBY FLYNN + Massie Smith
Bobby's back by popular demand after his last sell out show at Joe's. Certainly it's his voice, which brings to mind the otherworldly tenderness of Nick Drake and baritone flashes of early '70s David Bowie: the idealism, almost, of another time we may have felt we lost. Whatever it is, 25-year-old Bobby Flynn is one of the most exciting and affectingly original singers in Australia today.

SEPTEMBER '07

Fri 14   DEBORAH CONWAY & WILLY ZYGIER + Kali Blunt
Deborah Conway & Willy Zygier have been playing together since the gold selling album Bitch Epic in 1993. Many albums later their music has been in the charts, has been in the movies, the telly & living rooms everywhere. Currently they have turned their repertoire into a warm & woody performance of acoustic based songs featuring their most recent release Summertown, new tunes from their upcoming album and some old favourites. This will be a superb intimate performance with one of Australia’s much loved performers.

AUGUST '07

Wed 8   BRIAN KENNEDY + Special Guests

He also backed Van on several albums – Days Like This, The Healing Game, Back on Top and others, combining with Van and John Lee Hooker on the live album, One Night in San Francisco. Recognition of his exceptional vocal talent came when asked by Van to record the soundtrack version of Crazy Love for the film When a Man Loves a Woman. Fri 10   BLUEHOUSE + Metaphor
As one of Australia's premier independent Duo’s, Bluehouse have stamped out their own unique style by writing folk-flavored pop melodies meshed with powerful, intricate harmonies and inspired guitar and bass playing, along with an engaging, lively show that heaps healthy doses of sardonic wit and humor in between songs.

Sat 25   SARA TINDLEY & the KINGFISHERS + Special Guest
Sara Tindley has captured the attention of musicians and broadcasters across the nation with her latest effort ‘Lucky The Sun’, the follow up to 2003's ‘5Days’. Tindley has an interesting lyrical sense, often relying on the use of imagery to propel the narrative in her songs. One would imagine this style of writing to be quite difficult and terribly awkward if not done well, but Tindley manages to pull it off seemingly effortlessly. Lyrically, she shows shades of Paul Kelly and Tim Rogers while musically sticking to a Lucinda Williams-esque country pop sound that's about as sweet as anything that's come out of the country for quite some time.

JULY '07

Fri 20   BOBBY FLYNN + Ange Takats
Ok -Ok, so it's not our usual style to be hosting Idol contestants, however, this guy is not your homogenised type of commercial music 'product', he's the real deal.

Sat 28   THAT 1 GUY (USA)
Like a one-man band plucked from the pages of Dr. Seuss, That 1 Guy delivers earthshaking future funk from ‘The Magic Pipe’ to accompany his madcap lyrics about turbo snails, meat storms, and weasel pot pies. ‘That 1 Guy’ is a musical guerrilla by every definition and no traditional Rock critic yardstick can be applied to what he's doing.
